Ypsilanti's River Street runs north from Michigan Avenue, just east of the Huron River, forming the eastern end of Depot Town.

In the South Depot Town neighborhood, River Street is boulevarded, with trees and flowers planted in the center median. Several large, stately houses on the west side back up to the Huron River, overlooking Riverside Park; houses on the east side are smaller, backing up to the historically industrial area along the railroad.

Photo Street marks the entry into the Depot Town commercial area.

The MCRR tracks cross the intersection of River and Cross at a 45-degree angle, creating a complex intersection.

North of Depot Town, the Historic East Side Neighborhood is characterized by early 20th century homes on larger lots.
